The Biden administration has announced a regulation requiring airlines to offer prompt refunds. This process will be hassle-free for passengers affected by significant flight cancellations or delays.

Details of the new regulations
The rule states that passengers who decline other forms of reimbursement, such as travel credits, are entitled to receive a cash refund. This applies to flights canceled or with significant changes in schedules, airports or connections.
In addition, provisions are included to reimburse passengers in cases of long delays in baggage delivery for domestic flights, up to a limit of 12 hours.

The regulation comes in response to previous crises, such as that of Southwest Airlines in 2022, which caused numerous cancellations and delays, as well as problems with lost luggage.
