The National Electoral Institute (INE) plans to reincorporate 24,787 people who were excluded due to inconsistencies or irregularities in their records into the Nominal List of Voters Abroad, while the rest remain in the review process until next May 5.

In a press conference, counselor Arturo Castillo, president of the Voting Commission for Mexicans Living Abroad, explained that of the 39,724 inconsistencies detected, 14,937 are still in a review process.

However, he said that it is not ruled out to file complaints for possible fraud in the Nominal List, which will be determined once the deadline to reincorporate the records ends.

“The fact that we are carrying out the review does not rule out in any way that we continue to carry out a more in-depth investigation to rule out the possibility that there has been any possible fraud or alteration,” the official stressed.

He added that they have approximately 8 thousand records for which clarifications have not been requested to be reincorporated into the Nominal List. He explained that it is planned that people whose clarification is appropriate can be added to the list through an addendum, whose deadline expires on May 5.
