A mobile court has sealed three private hospitals in Kashinathpur, one of the commercial centers of Pabna, on charges of fraud in the name of medical services. Meanwhile, six institutions, including three hospitals, were fined a total of Tk 270,000.

District Civil Surgeon, Consumer Rights and RAB conducted joint raids in these institutions throughout the day on Tuesday (February 27).

The hospitals are Care Diagnostic Center and Hospital, Seva Hospital and Diagnostic Center and Satta Dental Care.

The joint campaign team conducted anti-adulteration operation and imposed a fine of Tk 230,000 on these three institutions and a total of six institutions of the district.

According to mobile court sources, raids were conducted throughout the day on Tuesday in various upazilas including Pabna district town. 70 thousand taka to M/s Care Diagnostic Center and Hospital of Sujanagar Upazila for activities endangering the life of the service recipient and selling expired medicines, 50 thousand taka to M/s Seva Hospital and Diagnostic Center of Santhia Upazila for life threatening activities, 50 thousand to M/s Satta Dental Care Rs.50,000 to Messrs. Ratan Food Products of Sadar Upazila, Rs.5,000 to Messrs. Lamia Medical Hall, Rs.5,000 to Rs.5,000 to Messrs. Pykari Pharmacy and Surgical of Santhia Upazila, and Rs.230,000 to six companies for the crime of conducting business in an unsanitary and dirty environment. is done

Out of these, Care Diagnostic Center and Hospital, Seva Hospital and Diagnostic Center and Satta Dental Care, a tenet business, have been sealed. Owners of these establishments have been asked to show reasons within the next seven days.

District Civil Surgeon Shahidullah Dewan said that various mismanagement in the name of medical treatment was found in the said hospitals by conducting the mobile court. In addition to the absence of doctors and nurses, reagents were not available in the lab in many institutions.

He said that there was no technician in an important room like ECG. It is like playing with people’s lives. Some college students were being portrayed as nurses. Those who don’t know what ECG is or how to operate this machine. None of the reagents in their lab have an expiration date. Every room in the building is full of filthy garbage.

He also said that jhatika operation will continue without any prior notice in different parts of the district.

RAB ASP Monowar Hossain, Sathiya Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Sujoy Saha, Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection Mahmud Hasan Roni and others were also present during the mobile court proceedings.
