Three children drowned in the river at different places in Chapainawabganj.
On Saturday (April 6), two children died in Shibganj upazila’s Tarttipur and two in Bholahat’s Gohalbari while swimming in the river.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shibganj Police Station. Sajjad Hossain and Sumon Kumar of Bholahat police station confirmed this information.
The deceased are Priyanka (11), daughter of Roop Kumar of Kamarpara, Ranihati Union of Shibganj Upazila, Azizul Haque (11), son of Subodh Mistry of Radhanagar Colony, Gohalbari Union of Bholahat Upazila, and Jihad (11), son of Abdul Kadir.
Shibganj Police Station. Sajjad Hossain told Jago News that the child Priyanka went to take a bath with her family at the Tarttipur Cremation Ghat of Pagla River to celebrate the religious festival. He drowned in the river without swimming. Family members found him dead after searching.
Bholahat police station (OC) Suman Kumar said, Azizul and his classmate Jihad (11) went missing after going down to take a bath at Gujur Ghat of Mahananda river. Later, the fire service team rescued them by raiding the river. When they were taken to Upazila Health Complex for treatment, the doctors on duty declared them dead.
