Last year, 9399 Georgian citizens went to Germany and sought asylum from this country.

Publika.az reports that this was reported by the German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) in response to the request of the European bureau of “Report”.

According to information, only 31 of the applicants were granted refugee status. 7,964 applicants were not eligible for refugee status.

The Federal Administration rejected the asylum request of those persons and sent them a notice to leave the country voluntarily.

245 of those deported from Germany to Georgia last year are Azerbaijanis.

In 2023, an increase in the number of Georgian Azerbaijanis benefiting from the Voluntary Return Assistance and Reintegration project of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) was recorded.

With the support of IOM, payments were made in cash and non-cash to those who returned to Georgia to establish their entrepreneurial activities in the field of small farming, service sector, small trade and manufacturing.
