13th African Games: Madagascar temporarily keeps 6th place

The Big Island was still in sixth place in the medal rankings yesterday, late in the evening, at the 13es Africans in Accra, Ghana. With 11 medals including 3 gold, 2 silver and 6 bronze, Madagascar remains in the top 10. During the day yesterday, a new silver medal was won by the delegation. In weightlifting, the two Malagasy weight lifters who entered the competition yesterday could not do better against their opponents. They are Havotrinaina Rakotomandimby (-67 kg) and Jules Anthonio Andriamahefa (-73 kg). Havotra finished last in his category and Mahefa finished just off the podium. It was the Nigerian, Edidiong Umoafia (-67 kg) and the Algerian, Samir Fardjallah (-71kg) who achieved a hat-trick. Today, it is the turn of Sarah Rakotoharisoa (-71kg) and Ravo Cadeau Fanomezantsoa (-81kg) to enter the stage. On the judo side, the African champion, Laura Rasoanaivo (- 70kg) enters the fray today on the tatami of Gamashi Hall. For the boys, Lova Randrianasolo (-73kg) and Fetra Ranaivoarisoa (-81 kg).
