The reluctance of American representatives to approve additional military aid for Ukraine will cost the country lives. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said this in an interview with Fox News broadcast on Thursday.

A support package of 60 billion dollars (more than 55 billion euros) is being blocked by the Republicans in the US Congress. Their expected presidential candidate in the elections later this year, former President Donald Trump, no longer wants to give Kiev money.

“Will Ukraine Survive Without Congressional Support? Naturally. But not all of us,” Zelensky told Fox News in an interview near the front lines in Ukraine. The choice of Fox is perhaps not a coincidence given the channel’s large following among American conservatives.

The Ukrainian leader also warned that the price of helping Kiev now is far lower than the potential cost of confronting Russian President Vladimir Putin later if he wins in Ukraine.

Trump at the front

Zelensky said he still did not understand Donald Trump’s claim that he would end the war within 24 hours. “He cannot solve this problem, this tragedy, with me.” The Ukrainian president said he would receive Trump at the front, where he “will explain everything, and he will explain his thoughts, maybe he has some ideas. Don’t know.”

“He will see what is going on, and then I think he will change his mind,” Zelenskiy said. “We all understood that there are no two sides in this war. There is only one enemy, and that is Putin’s position.”
