The President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, in a video speech published on his Telegram channel on August 10, declared that he held a “closed, but productive” meeting with the main British military leaders.
He did not give many details about the talks, but has said the West is preparing new military aid packages for Ukraine, including air defense systems.
US support, “as long as necessary”
The Ukrainian president’s statement came on the same day that the head of his Office, Andrei Yermak, stated that representatives of the Ukrainian Army “on behalf of Vladimir Zelensky” met in videoconference format with the US military leadership. USA
According to Yermak, they had a “very objective and fundamental” conversation regarding the situation on the front and defense cooperation. On the US side, the US Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, participated in the negotiations; National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan; and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States, Mark Milley, has assured the head of the Office of the Ukrainian President.
During the talks, the Ukrainian side “emphasized the key needs of the defense forces” of kyiv in its fight against Russia. In response, Washington’s military representatives “assured that US support for Ukraine will last as long as it is necessary,” Yermak said.
