The Professional Association of Austrian Psychologists (BÖP) emphasizes the urgency of a comprehensive expansion of psychosocial care in Austria
Vienna (OTS) – Under the motto “My health, my rights”, the World Health Organization (WHO) will celebrate its 76th anniversary on April 7, 2024. On the occasion of the day of action, which is intended to commemorate the founding of the WHO in 1948, the professional association of Austrian psychologists (BÖP) pointed out that too mental health a Fundamentals Recht and should be available to everyone without exception – regardless of gender, age or social status. But the fact is: not all those affected in Austria who need psychological help can still afford it.
Long-term goal: Clinical-psychological treatment via e-card
“There is no health without mental health. Accordingly, every person who needs psychological support should receive it,” emphasizes BÖP President ao. University Prof. Dr. Beate Wimmer-Puchinger. Since January 1, 2024 is clinical-psychological treatment in Austria Cash register performance and all insured persons receive a subsidy from their social insurance for clinical-psychological treatment – “an important milestone for health care in Austria,” said BÖP President ao. Univ.-Prof. Dr. Wimmer-Puchinger.
“But in order to ensure comprehensive psychosocial care in Austria and not exclude anyone, our goal remains one direct billing with the e-card. We are confident that we will be able to find a good solution in this direction together with the social security providers. We owe that to the people affected in Austria,” explains BÖP President ao. Univ.-Prof. Dr. Wimmer-Puchinger.
