350 participants pass a unanimous resolution at the conference in Leonding – next round of negotiations on April 23rd

Vienna (OTS) 350 works councils and youth representatives from the chemical industry gathered today in Leonding/Upper Austria at the invitation of the PRO-GE production union and the GPA union. A unanimously passed resolution calls for a “real wage and salary increase with particular consideration for those on low incomes” for the 50,000 employees in the industry. The underlying average inflation rate is 6.36 percent.

Within the framework of the law, the works councils are demanding a reduction in weekly working hours, easier access to the 6th week of vacation, additional anniversary bonuses, free climate tickets for apprentices, and a day off for the child to start school.

“Our colleagues have been working under constant crisis conditions for over 4 years. The corona pandemic, supply chain problems and war events around the world are not only putting strain on companies, but also on employees. All crises were managed well thanks to the efforts of our colleagues. Together we will ensure that these services and commitment are appropriately rewarded and valued,” the resolution says

Should be at the 3rd round of collective agreements on April 23rd. If no result is achieved, company meetings will be held throughout Austria from April 24th to 30th, 2024 to report on the current status of negotiations.
