With prescription in hand, a large group of IMSS beneficiaries blocked Revolution Boulevard in front of the General Hospital of Zone Number 16 this morning, to demand attention due to the lack of personnel to serve in the pharmacy.

The protesters kept traffic completely closed, shortly after noon they freed only one lane heading from east to west. By 12:45 the road was cleared, however they threatened to block again if the majority of the beneficiaries are not served, since of the seven windows only two are being served with slow progress.

“It’s because social security started late, and they were hungry, the windows had to be closed for two hours and people were out in the sun because people have to have lunch, they are human but they don’t give a damn about other people,” he said. one of the affected beneficiaries was upset.

The delay, the desperation, their discomfort combined with the intense rays of the sun, motivated them to close the road, thus generating road chaos for a moment, since the blockade extended to both the lanes that go from west to east and from east to west.

The majority of the dissatisfied were adults, who were hoping to obtain their medication; for some it was their second or even third attempt to do so due to the lack of them.

“They have two or three days coming because the prescription expires, and if you don’t fill it and buy it yourself and then you’ll see who pays for it, then the problem here is that people agreed to block the street to put pressure on them so that they are attended to, if they are lost so that they put the stamp on the prescription and it is not lost and that they tell you when it arrives and not have people in the sun,” commented the beneficiaries in the middle of a long line.

After their mobilization, the staff began to provide care, although not as they expected since only two workers were at the window to fill the patients’ prescriptions.

“They are already working, at their own pace,” commented those affected.
