WhatsApp offers users to invite their contacts to use the app

MADRID, (Portaltic/EP) – WhatsApp is urging users to invite other contacts to use this messaging service, a movement with which it seeks to promote the interoperability in which it is currently working.

The instant messaging platform, owned by Meta, has been planning for months to implement compatibility with third-party messaging services, a communication alternative that will allow users to connect with people who use other services to chat.

This is because WhatsApp seeks to adapt to what is required by the Digital Markets Act (DMA), which establishes new regulations for large technology companies, such as Apple and Google, in addition to Meta .

Being considered ‘gatekeepers’, these companies must assume a series of obligations that guarantee fair competition in the sector. In the case of WhatsApp, allowing communication between different messaging platforms, such as Signal or Telegram.

At the beginning of last month, the ‘app’ began testing the ability to manage chats that come from third-party applications on Android, with functions that will allow the interoperability of the application to be activated and deactivated – which will be optional for the user -, in addition to say which third-party applications can communicate.

The company seeks to enhance this capacity with a new statement that urges users to invite other contacts without a WhatsApp account to start using the application, as WABetaInfo has warned.

Specifically, it has begun to display this notification, which is located at the top of the ‘Chats’ tab, on devices with the iOS operating system, in the latest WhatsApp beta 24.8.10.73.

This specialized portal has commented that the firm has not only introduced a ‘banner’ that proposes inviting other contacts, but has also shared other messages that mention, for example, the possibility of using WhatsApp on different devices.

Another of these ads is aimed at those users who have deactivated the synchronization of the contact book with the application, asking them to enable this option to access an improved communication experience.
