It has now been a year since Stromae canceled all concerts of his ‘Multitude’ tour due to health reasons. Since then, with the exception of a few sporadic public displays, it has been quiet around the singer. But a fan is said to have recently met the man, who now looks completely different. However, the photo that a fan posted on Facebook has raised eyebrows among many. “Gray hair and some changes in his face, is this Stromae?”, some critical fans wonder.
In the photo that the fan sent to the world, which is said to have been taken in Brussels, the singer’s gray haircut is immediately noticeable. Some see absolutely no bones at all. “He’s always so friendly and he just looks good. That new hair suits you.” Others have some reservations about the somewhat remarkable appearance of the alleged Stromae. “I don’t recognize him anymore, what happened to his face?” someone writes. Another fan is less cautious and outright questions the authenticity of the famous singer. “Is this even Stromae? He used to look so different.”
Even further, the skepticism is obvious: “This is not the singer.”
Mental problems
It is not clear whether it is the real Paul Van Haver, alias Stromae. The singer has so far been sparing about the reason for his long absence. He would struggle with mental problems, just like in 2015. Then Van Haver struggled with depression and burnout in response to the malaria drug Lariam. Since that malaria treatment, the singer, world famous for hits such as Alors on danse and Papaoutai, has never been the same again. It remains to be seen whether that will ever be the case again.
At the end of last month, another fan also posed with Stromae, or at least someone who passes for one. Even then with the striking gray haircut.
