Construction work in the Deutsches Eck area leads to timetable adjustments / repeated restrictions must not slow down the switch to rail
Vienna (OTS) – Due to construction work by DB (Deutsche Bahn) Netz AG, there will be timetable changes on the route between Salzburg and Munich or Innsbruck in the period from March 9th to 19th and March 24th, 2024. Scheduled train services between Vienna Westbahnhof and Salzburg are not affected. WESTbahn is taking all possible precautions to keep the disruption to rail passengers as low as possible.
The following train connections are affected by construction-related restrictions:
March 9th to 19th:
- Salzburg – Innsbruck
- Direction Innsbruck: Trains 960 and 972
- Direction Salzburg: Trains 949 and 967
- Salzburg – Munich
- Direction Munich: Trains 962, 966 and 970
- Direction Salzburg: Trains 963, 965 and 971
March 24th:
- Salzburg – Innsbruck
- Direction Innsbruck: Train 958
- Direction Salzburg: Trains 949 and 967
- Salzburg – Munich
- Direction Munich: Train 970
- Direction Salzburg: Train 959

The DB’s construction work in the Deutsches Eck area continues to pose major challenges for Austrian railway companies. In view of the ongoing general renovations and planned construction work on the 140 kilometer long route between Munich and Salzburg in 2027, concepts are currently being worked on to overcome the restrictions, especially for To keep travelers from western to eastern Austria as low as possible.
WESTbahn emphasizes that while the infrastructure is being expanded and modernized at the same time, the advantages of the railway must not suffer against the background of the current challenges. Repeated restrictions due to construction work must not slow down the switch to rail.
