The Prime Minister added: “The government succeeded, starting on December 1, 2022, that is, about 14 months after its arrival, in generalizing basic compulsory insurance for sickness in accordance with the goals and time frame set for it, as the previously beneficiaries were transferred from the ‘RAMED’ system, which at that time included 4 Millions of families, meaning more than 10 million male and female citizens, are moving toward a compulsory health insurance system with a budget borne by the state amounting to 9.5 billion dirhams annually, while ensuring financial sustainability and successful targeting of beneficiaries as a political and developmental commitment before the King and in response to the expectations of Moroccans.”

In his presentation before Parliament in both chambers, Akhannouch pointed out “the integration of the category of unemployed workers into the compulsory sickness insurance system, which was a major challenge that required the adoption of a participatory approach in order to prepare and approve 28 implementing decrees for the basic compulsory sickness insurance system law, relating to a group of categories.” He stressed that “after the inauguration of the government, there was no legal text to implement the health coverage project.”
