JAKARTA – The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that extreme weather in the form of moderate to heavy rain will potentially occur during the Eid homecoming period from 5 to 11 April 2024.

“We predict extreme weather from the 5th to the 11th, it will still be moderate to heavy rain,” said BMKG Deputy for Meteorology, Guswanto.

Next he said extreme weather it will start to decrease on April 12 2023. “However, after that on the 12th, it will start to decrease with light rain.”

Furthermore, Guswanto said that currently there is Madden Julian Oscillation (MJO) activity, there are convergence areas, Tropical Cyclone Seeds, and Tropical Cyclone Megan which still has the potential to create extreme weather in Indonesian territory.

“Indeed, currently there is still Madden Julian Oscillation activity in the inter-tropical convergence area and the seeds of tropical cyclones and tropical cyclone Megan. “Hopefully, in the future this will be completed,” said Guswanto.
