Virtual parking meters will come into effect starting July 1 in Torreón

As of July 1, the virtual parking meter system will come into force, with which fines will also begin to be applied to those who do not cover the fee for occupying parking spaces in the Center area and first block of the city.

The first councilor and president of the Finance Commission, Luis Jorge Cuerda Serna, recalled that this system has been in the process of socialization and adaptation for almost a year, so that citizens have full knowledge of how it works.

In one part of the center, both virtual and physical parking meters will operate, the latter for those who do not have a smartphone or a way to make payment through an application.

Regarding the workers in the area, the mayor mentioned that The Cabildo authorized discounts of 50 percent if the cost is covered per month or per year, through a card.

“We have to move forward in that sense because Torreón deserves it,” he said about the new type of parking meters, being a modern system that uses technology, noting that established merchants in the area have indicated that it will be beneficial for an economic reactivation.
