Vice President Victoria Villarruel reopened the controversy in Congress over the salary increases that were given to legislators this year and that President Javier Milei ordered eliminated.

At the beginning of March, a stir arose over the 30% increases that had been granted in both the Deputies and the Senate, in the midst of the austerity policy promoted by La Libertad Avanza.

The controversy was reopened these days between the legislators of both Chambers, since the members of the Senate received their salaries with the 16% granted in January, that is, Villarruel went back, but not as much as Milei had requested.

“Let the deputies not tell me that the money is not enough, that many people are having a worse time,” the President had said after ordering the allowances to be moved back to December.
