AREQUIPA, Peru – The acting vice president of Uruguay, Gabriela Bianchi, pointed out the Castro regime as the main responsible for the calamities of the Cuban people and the recent popular protests that occurred on the Island with cries of freedom, electricity and food.
“The Cuban regime failed as every totalitarian, socialist, communist, whatever you want to call it regime fails,” said the Uruguayan leader in a video published on X (formerly Twitter).
Bianchi’s statements came in response to a statement from the Single Central of Workers of Uruguay, in which They supported the Havana regime and expressed their concern about “acts of interference by the US Government to destabilize the situation in the sister Republic of Cuba.”
“First, it is not a Republic, it is a dictatorship, but it also destabilized itself. It was something that rotted from within because it was undemocratic, because it did not know how to manage the economy and because it wanted to impose socialism, and above all so that the dominant caste of the Communist Party could enrich itself.”
Likewise, Bianchi said that supporting the Cuban people meant condemning the Government of the Island, whom he pointed out as being “responsible” for the situation in the country. “It is a dictatorship,” he stressed.
The vice president criticized the speech of the Central Única, which replicates in its statement the propaganda of the Cuban dictatorship and the excuses for the US “blockade.”
“How are they going to say that Cuba is blocked. Cuba has trade with more than 80 countries, including the US. What the Government has is an embargo on all the assets that Fidel Castro’s dictatorship confiscated from the opponents. “Stop lying.”
Before concluding the video, Bianchi sent a strong message to the authors of the statement.
“You do not represent Uruguayan workers. And, above all, they are not going to turn Uruguay into Cuba. Never!”.
Eventually, last Sunday afternoon hundreds of residents in Santiago de Cuba took to the streets not only demanding the restoration of electrical service, but also for food and cries for freedom.
In a few hours, the popular protests also spread to Bayamo, Granma, and Santa Marta, in Matanzas. In addition, Cubans remained in the streets until Monday night.
