On February 27, at night, an armed attack in Valencia, Spain, left three men dead in the midst of one of the most violent cases recently recorded in that area of Europe. Among the victims, it was learned, was Roberto Vega Daza, one of the last survivors of the feared Daza Clan that operated in the Colombian Atlantic.
According to what has emerged, Roberto ‘Beto’ Vega Daza’s trip to Europe was intended to create new ties for cocaine trafficking from Colombia and thus recover the old power that his family had in this illegal activity. The approaches, apparently, would have been with criminal structures in Albania and the Balkans that would not have gone well and would have resulted in the murder of the last member of the clan.
Beto Vega had already saved his life about a year ago, when in June 2023 he was injured while five family members died during an attack with assault rifles in the Villa Campestre neighborhood, in Barranquilla. The family, originally from La Guajira, would have been involved in smuggling, drug trafficking, extortion and robbery.
