Outside the Valledupar Education Secretariat, a group of teachers protested on behalf of more than 500 educators, who are awaiting appointments after having won a merit contest in the National Civil Status Commission.

Those affected indicated that they have completed all the steps of the process such as application, presentation of evidence, interviews and delivery of documents, but they are waiting for the hearing date by the territorial entity and to find out the available positions and choose the job. .

«Our rights acquired through a merit contest that we carried out more than a year ago are being violated and had been transparent while it was in the hands of the National Civil Service Commission, however, when we fell into the territorial entity, a ‘black cloud’ to the process. There is uncertainty, negligence and delay,” Diomedes Galindo explained.

Additionally, they stated that they hope that the appointment process can take place before the end of 2023.

For his part, the Secretary of Municipal Education, Iván Bolaños Baute, maintained that these are procedures that do not depend 100% on the municipal administration but on the central level, hence the delay in the process.
