The Northwest region recorded a sudden increase in temperature, reaching a highest level of 35 degrees Celsius today. Humidity and heat will continue in the North for many days to come, causing discomfort.

The National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting said that on February 20, the temperature in the North remained high, commonly 28-31 degrees Celsius. In the Northwest, the temperature even increased to 32 degrees C, locally in some places reaching the heat threshold of 35 degrees C, the highest since the beginning of the season.

The above temperature level is considered abnormal as it is mid-February and the North is still in the winter-spring period. The reason is that the El Nino cycle causes the weather to warm up across the country, the amount of cold air decreases, and the entire South also experiences prolonged intense heat.

The place recording the highest temperature in the North today may be the Hoa Binh and Son La areas. The western mountainous region of Nghe An is also likely to experience heat above 35 degrees Celsius.

In addition to high heat, people in the North also have to deal with humidity when the humidity in the air is often above 90%, accompanied by fog and scattered rain in the early morning. Air pollution is also increasing, causing serious effects on human health.

The above situation is forecast to last until February 22. It won’t be until this weekend that cold air arrives to help the area cool down and turn cold. At the same time, dirt is diffused to help improve air quality.

The meteorological agency predicts that in the coming time, hot weather in the Northwest and Central regions is likely to come early, more than average. Along with that, this phenomenon occurs in the Southeast, focusing on the second half of February and will gradually expand to the West from March to the first half of May.
