Unemployment rate remained at 5.6 percent in March

The number of people registered as job seekers in the Grand Duchy was 17,654 in March 2024. Adem announced this on Monday. Compared to last year, this is an increase of 15.1 percent – so in March 2023 there were 2,322 fewer job seekers.

Seasonally adjusted, the unemployment rate is 5.6 percent and is therefore stagnating at the previous month’s level. In March, 2,731 people registered with Adem as new job seekers, which is 203 more than in March 2023. Adem also states that 62 of them are Ukrainian refugees.

The number of resident job seekers receiving full unemployment benefits increased by 1,982 people year-on-year to a total of 10,073. The number of people receiving an employment measure was 4,455, an increase of 6.8 percent compared to March 2023.

Employers reported 3,133 vacancies to Adem last March, almost 20.4 percent fewer than in March of the previous year. This means that a total of 7,595 positions are open in the country. The decline within a year primarily affects the accounting and administration, management consulting, secretarial and assistance, business strategy and marketing, IT, transport and logistics, construction, hotel, catering, tourism, leisure and entertainment sectors.
