Unable to compete in MotoGP 2024, Alberto Puig admits Honda is confused

AUSTIN – Head Team Repsol Honda , Alberto Puig, admitted that his team is currently confused. The reason is, they tried many new things but their motorbike was still unable to compete at the start of the 2024 MotoGP season.

During pre-season testing MotoGP 2024 , Honda seems to have made some progress in the performance of their motorbikes. But it seems that that didn’t actually happen.

Of the three series that have been running this season, the Gold Wing factory team still can’t say much, even with the concession privileges they get. Of the six races that have taken place, four of their drivers have always been in last place, except for the main race in Qatar where there were many accidents.

The arrival of Luca Marini also raised hope for Honda because he wanted to join when they were in a slump. He seems to be able to adapt quite well and continues to try to bring out his abilities as best as possible.

Puig also revealed that in Japan Honda continues to work hard to help boost the team’s performance. He said that new staff had been recruited and were working day and night to continue to help them rise from adversity.

“All I can say is they are working hard in Japan. They’re working on a lot of different things. “There are new people, they are not asleep,” said Puig as quoted by Motosan, Saturday (20/4/2024).

Furthermore, Puig revealed that Honda was a little confused about what was happening. The reason is, his team tried many things to improve the motorbike’s performance RC213V but there was not the slightest visible change when the racers drove on the track.

“Our motorbike is not working well. We’ve made major changes, improvements, at least in theory. “They are not visible on the track and at the moment we are a little confused,” explained Puig.

“We tried a lot of different things, but we didn’t see anything really convincing on the track,” he concluded.
