U23 Vietnam defeated U23 Kuwait with a score of 3-1 in the opening match in Group D, U23 Asian finals 2024. U23 Vietnam’s goals were scored by Vi Hao (2 goals) and Van Tung.
After the match, coach Hoang Anh Tuan said he was only satisfied with the results, because the players still had not shown their best as expected.

Coach Hoang Anh Tuan said: “The opponent is nothing special, the problem is that we did not play as well as our inherent level. The whole team needs to quickly return to play exactly as they practiced.
As in the second half, when the tension passed, the players played more proactively, close to their real strength. I’ve only been on the team for more than 10 days, so making immediate changes is very difficult. Perhaps from now until the end of the tournament, the changes of U23 Vietnam will be more obvious.”
In the next match, U23 Vietnam will face U23 Malaysia, coach Hoang Anh Tuan refused to go into details about his expertise. He said: “We have had a process of preparing for the tournament. I refuse to answer this question because there are many technical aspects. I can only say that the next match will be a big decision on U23 Vietnam’s ability to reach the quarterfinals and of course we need the best result.”
