The information was confirmed by the governor of Maranhão, Carlos Brandão (PSB) through a social network. The operation was commanded by the military and civil police and the state secret services.
According to the general delegate of the Civil Police, Jair Paiva, one of the arrested suspects helped the other two criminals who announced the robbery and killed the driver escape. The other prisoner is a teenager who participated in the crime. A third suspect has not yet been identified, but has already been arrested.
In a statement to police, the teenager told officers that he was the one who shot the driver Francisco Vale Silva. However, the Civil Police continues to investigate the case to try to confirm who committed the crime.
Jair Paiva explained that a suspect was brought to the Superintendency of Homicide and Personal Protection (SHPP) on Tuesday morning, but the police ruled out his involvement. During his testimony, he provided information that helped intelligence teams locate the two arrested people.
The suspects live near the São Luís bus terminal, an area very close to where the bus robbery was recorded. The Civil Police continues to carry out searches to attempt to arrest the third suspect and identify the weapon used in the crime.

Due to the death of the driver, bus workers initiated an indefinite disruption of the São Luís public transport system in the early hours of this Tuesday (23).

Three criminals, armed with a knife and a gun, boarded the bus, which runs towards the neighborhoods of Vila São José and Centro, and announced the robbery.
According to the Prime Minister, after robbing the passengers, the criminals forced the driver to stop the bus near the São Luís bus terminal and, shortly after the driver stopped the vehicle, the criminals shot Francisco Vale, who died a few minutes after the crime.
With the driver already shot, the bus lost control and came to rest on a traffic island. Military Police said the criminals fled with the bus proceeds and passengers’ valuables. No passengers were injured.
