Carlos García Saade, president of the ARENA party, reiterated today that they have decided to withdraw from the National Gymnasium, in San Salvador, where the final scrutiny of the election of deputies of the Legislative Assembly is being carried out.
«We said last night that we were withdrawing because we are not going to validate this entire illegal and illegitimate process that the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) is carrying out. There has not been a level playing field, despite that our candidates decided to get involved in this. Since yesterday we have been reporting several failures within the final scrutiny process for Assembly deputies,” said Saade.
This morning a large number of people identified with the ARENA party were observed outside the National Gymnasium, who would be the guards that the tricolor would place at the counting tables, but then the president of the party reported that they were leaving.
García Saade argued that the decision not to participate with guards at the counting tables is because “there are no conditions for a transparent count,” nor are there any conditions to hold the elections on March 3 to elect municipal councils and deputies of Parliament. Central American, for which they request its annulment.
«We hoped that at some point the court would change for the better, but it has not. There are people who enter without credentials, they do not notify us of the increase in credentials for security guards, they tell us that there were 100, then 300,” said the tricolor leader, who assured that four TSE magistrates are on the side of the ruling party.
When asked about the participation of ARENA with its monitors in the final scrutiny, he stated that they have enough, but that they have already announced that they will not participate.
But these people were only taken for a two-hour appearance at the National Gymnasium, since it was learned that they had not received the proper training to be at the counting tables nor would they receive food from the ARENA party.
