It demonstrates the French army’s desire to ensure security and stability in the region, by working in close collaboration with its local partners. In addition to this mission in Mozambique, the operational training detachment also provided training to executives of the Tazar, the Seychelles special forces, from January 30 to February 12. At the same time, in the maritime domain, the Patrouilleur Le Malin made a stopover in Nosy Be from January 28 to February 2, marking an important step in strengthening cooperation ties between the French and Malagasy navy. This stopover made it possible not only to consolidate bilateral relations, but also to deepen cooperation in maritime security in the region. The crew of the Patrouilleur Le Malin welcomed eight Malagasy soldiers on board for safety-focused training. This joint initiative allowed French sailors to share their expertise in fighting fires, by presenting the different safety equipment on board the ship.

Maritime safety. The training offered a detailed overview of the organization of safety on board, highlighting the essential roles in preventing and fighting fires. Participants learned how to equip themselves with heavy firefighting equipment, how to handle a fire hose and how to train with a smoke generator. These exchanges of know-how demonstrate the mutual commitment of the French and Malagasy navies to maritime security in the region. Cross-visits and training strengthen ties between the two countries, thus contributing to lasting cooperation to ensure the security of sea lanes.
