Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with rescuers, volunteers and businessmen of the region during a trip to North Kazakhstan region, Liter.kz reports with reference to Chord.

The President noted the high unity of the region’s residents during the emergency and expressed gratitude to all citizens involved in the fight against the natural disaster.

Public Deputy Chairman of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan for North Kazakhstan region Elena Semidotskikh informed the head of state about the opening of humanitarian aid reception points in each district.

The head of the Birgemiz volunteer front office, Anastasia Volkova, announced the creation of an operational headquarters for rapid response volunteers. The headquarters trains and coordinates the work of more than 2,500 volunteers.

General Director of Sevkazenergo JSC Anatoly Kazanovsky said that the company’s shareholders allocated 100 million tenge, installed transformers and laid power lines.

As the head of Kyzylzhar Zholdary LLP Askhat Zholdaspaev said, the company takes an active part in flood control measures, providing special equipment and other necessary equipment for the construction and strengthening of dams.

It was previously announced that after a one-day visit to Yerevan, the president would visit one of the regions of Kazakhstan located in the flood zone. Today it became known that the head of state flew to North Kazakhstan. It flew around the Kyzylzharsky district, the outskirts of Petropavlovsk and the Sergeevskoye reservoir. Afterwards, the president met with the evacuated residents and promised that the state would compensate for all the expenses they incurred. The head of state also inspected the Petropavlovsk hydroelectric complex.
