Tokayev met with evacuated residents of West Kazakhstan region

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev visited the evacuation point in the Karatobinsky district of the West Kazakhstan region, Liter.kz reports with reference to Chord.

It was opened at the school-gymnasium named after Kazhym Zhumaliev.

In a conversation with residents, the president noted that there had never been floods of this magnitude in the past. According to him, a similar situation occurred in 1994, but the current floods have become more widespread.

The President assured the villagers that the state would take all necessary measures to compensate for losses.

I came specifically to get acquainted with the situation on the ground. This is an unprecedented natural disaster, so we must unite and stand together against it. The state and government will lend a helping hand, material and financial assistance will be provided. Don’t worry about it, everything will work out,” the head of state said.

Villagers asked to build bridges on the Zhaksybay and Kaldygayty rivers, as well as to repair dams located near populated areas. The President gave corresponding instructions to the government.

On April 4, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived on a working trip to the West Kazakhstan region and flew around the flooded territories.

On April 2, a state of emergency due to floods was declared throughout the West Kazakhstan region. Previously, the emergency situation was in effect in several areas.
