Legendary Tiger Woods has just confirmed his return to play at the Genesis Invitational, the first PGA Tour tournament since The Masters.

“Super Tiger” returns. Tiger Woods will compete on the PGA Tour 312 days after his last official appearance on the North American circuit.

The 48-year-old legend returns at the Genesis Invitational taking place next week (February 15-18), at Riviera Country Club (Los Angeles, USA).

Woods returned at the Genesis event he organized

Woods has not played on the PGA Tour since The Masters 2023, a tournament in which he had to withdraw on day 3.

Last December, Woods appeared at the Hero World Challenge, an unofficial tournament of PGA Touras well as the PNC Championship with his son Charlie.

The Riviera event, organized by Woods himself – through the Tiger Woods Foundation – will be his first step into the 2024 season.

“Very excited to be hosting and competing at the Genesis Invitational next week,” Tiger announced on social media.

The defending champion of the tournament is Jon Rahm. The Spanish golfer will not be in Los Angeles to defend his title after left the PGA Tour to join LIV Golf.

This is the 3rd event of the 8 designated tournaments of the PGA Tour. Woods plans to play all four days if his physical condition allows, when Genesis does not have a cut.

At the Hero World Challenge, Woods competes against the best golfers in the world. He ranked 18th out of 20 competitors.

“I can walk and play,” Woods said at the end of the year. “I worked hard and was able to recover. Training every day was great.”

The question the golf world is asking now is what outfit Tiger will wear, after ending his 27-year relationship with Nike on January 1.

It was a relationship that revolutionized golf and sports in general, with funding of up to $500 million.
