Three alleged bandits put out of harm’s way

Saturday evening, three suspected bandits were shot dead by the gendarmerie in the rural commune of Ambohijanaka, Antananarivo-Atsimondrano district. These individuals were reportedly on the verge of committing an attack in the locality when they came under fire from the police during a clash with the latter.

he evening around 10 p.m., seven gendarmes from the Ambohijanaka fixed post led by their leader were carrying out a patrol in the fokontany of Ambatolampy, the aforementioned commune when they came across a group of people made up of around ten members. Respecting the usual procedure among gendarmes when faced with a person traveling at night and exhibiting suspicious behavior, the patrol ordered these individuals to stop in order to examine their situation. Not having complied with this order, the suspects continued on their way while opening fire in the direction of the police. Faced with this situation, the station chief ordered the fugitives to stop shooting while warning them to return fire. On the other hand, the latter responded with heavy fire. Feeling in danger, the police used their weapons to defend themselves. A deadly clash then took place between the two parties. In fact, three alleged bandits were put out of harm’s way. While the others were able to escape. No injuries to law enforcement. According to information from the gendarmerie, an automatic pistol equipped with a magazine containing two bullets, a knife, a spear, a flashlight, scissors and other sharp objects were discovered on the deceased.

After this incident, residents of the neighborhood quickly gathered to see what exactly had happened. Asked to identify the slain bandits, they all claimed not to know them. After the doctor’s findings, the remains were transported to the morgue of the Joseph Ravoahangy-Andrianavalona hospital.
