JAKARTA – Ricky Harun chose not to force his four children to fast all day in the holy month of Ramadan. He had his own reasons for that.

However, Ricky Harun has special tips to forge discipline in his children in fasting in the holy month of Ramadan.

“Thank God, my children are relaxed, I told them when they were hungry and asked for the time, we told them they still understood and could hold it in. If the child can’t stand it anymore, that’s okay (break the fast),” said Ricky.

Herfiza Novianti’s husband implemented additional fasting hours when his child was not strong the previous day. Ricky believes this can instill the discipline of contentment in his children.

“Like us, for example, there are those who only arrive until 12 o’clock if they want to open, but the next day they have to be later than 12 o’clock, today it’s 12 o’clock, tomorrow they can only be until 11 o’clock, that’s the way it’s taught,” said Ricky Harun.

As a father, Ricky Harun does not want to force his children to fast like adults. He gave understanding little by little to his little one.

“Don’t force your child to be full because he or she is afraid of getting sick, it’s not mandatory for them,” he added.

As a form of appreciation, Ricky Harun and his wife also prepared a gift for their child who was trying to fast completely for 30 days. However, he refused to reveal the gift he would give his son.

“There will definitely be prizes, if you complete the 30 days there will be prizes of course. What prizes? Yes,” said Ricky Harun.
