The former first man of America visited Prague several more times, for example in October 2001 he took part in the Forum 2000 international conferencea meeting of the Madrid Club in November 2005 and in December 2011 he came with his wife to the state funeral of Václav Havel, with whom he had warm relations.
“I was very moved by the speeches of all the speakers. As an American and as a friend of President Havel, I am grateful that Hillary and I were able to come. We want Czechs to know that its importance extends far beyond the borders of your country. And always will be. He built a friendship that we want to build on in the future,” said the American ex-president at the time of his farewell to his friend.
“He designed and had the headband I wore at mass made. He was a good friend who we really cared about and loved. It is a great personal loss,” said Hillary Clinton after Havel’s funeral.
