In the middle of a heat wave, this morning clouds carrying rain suddenly moved from the North to the South, to the North of our country. It is forecasted that this afternoon and evening, the capital Hanoi and many areas will have rain.

Although the heat wave is still continuing, this morning, April 17, Hanoi and many provinces in the North suddenly had many clouds, making the temperature not as high as yesterday morning. According to major weather forecast sites, there are clouds carrying rain moving from the North to the South and from around noon today will start to cause rain in the Northeast of the North.

At noon or early afternoon, it rained in Lang Son and Cao Bang, with heavy rain in some places. After that, the rain gradually expanded to other areas such as Thai Nguyen, Bac Ninh, Hai Duong…, mostly with light to moderate rain. In the afternoon and evening, it is forecasted that there will be rain in the capital Hanoi. The rainfall is moderate, about 3 – 5 mm/h. If people go out, they should bring rain covers.

At the same time, provinces in the Northwest such as Lai Chau, Dien Bien, and Son La are also forecast to have rain, soothing the intense heat of the past few days. The rain is not continuous and depending on the area, there will be moderate to heavy rain, with a rainfall of about 5 – 8 mm/h.

Tomorrow, some areas in the North may still have scattered thunderstorms, focusing on the evening and night. This is a common phenomenon during heat waves.

Although the sky turned cloudy and rained relatively unexpectedly, this does not mean that the heat wave in the North has ended. From tomorrow, the temperature in most of the North will continue to increase gradually, the highest temperature of the day in Hanoi in the early afternoon is still above 40oC (actual outdoor temperature).
