With the objective of carrying out an evaluation of the Aguanaval River located in the Sierra y Cañón de Jimulco Municipal Ecological Reserve, personnel from the General Directorate of the Environment (DGMA) participated in the “First training workshop for the evaluation of the ecological quality of the rivers and streams in Coahuila.”

In collaboration with the Ministry of the Environment and the Mexican Fund for Nature Conservation, this activity was carried out as part of the preservation and sustainable management of the state’s water resources.

Manuel Rodríguez, biodiversity director of the directorate, announced that this joint action reflects the continuous commitment of the Municipality and the Stateas well as environmental organizations in the protection and conservation of natural resources.

During the training, fundamental topics related to the evaluation of water quality, the identification of environmental risk factors and the implementation of effective monitoring strategies were addressed.

The official said that these tools are essential to ensure the health and vitality of aquatic ecosystems in the regionas well as to promote sustainable and balanced development.

He mentioned that the exchange of experiences and knowledge between the different stakeholders is essential to strengthen resource management and promote collaboration in favor of the environment.

The event was attended by the staff of the Sierra y Cañón de Jimulco Natural Reserve, representatives of the municipalities of Torreón and Acuña, as well as the staff of the Sierra de Zapalinamé and Sabinas River State Natural Reserve; In addition, the staff of the Center for Research in Applied Chemistry (CIQA) joined the workshop.
