Actor Raymond Cruz, who played Tuco Salamanca in the successful series ‘Breaking Bad’, recalled this Friday in Costa Rica that the project It was close to being canceled in the first two seasons due to low ratings.

“The script was great, but ‘Breaking Bad’ wasn’t a hit when it aired. In its first two seasons it only had about a million viewers and was always on the verge of being cancelled, but by the end of the series there were 12 million viewers every week”Cruz said at the Comic Con Costa Rica press conference.

Cruz added that: “It wasn’t until the third season when people really started to get hooked and the show took off, when everyone started watching the episodes every week and realized the production, the script and the characters and that it was a great story of an antihero.”

‘Breaking Bad’created and produced by Vince Gilligan, tells the story of an American high school chemistry teacher. Walter Whiteinterpreted by Bryan Cranstonwho is diagnosed with cancer and enters the world of synthetic drugs to leave money for his family when he dies.

The teacher joins in that mission with Jesse Pinkmana former student of his who is played by the actor Aaron Pauland little by little they are ascending in the world of drug trafficking and organized crime.

The series lasted for 5 seasons and many classify it as one of the best in history.

Raymond Cruz recalled this Friday that “the script was really good,” that he was captivated by the story of the antihero and believed that it was a “dark comedy” in which he was willing to participate to “do something he had not done before.”

“When Vince Gilligan offered me the role I said yes, but that he couldn’t change anything that I did, and he agreed,” Cruz said about his drug dealer character who had a relatively short participation in Breaking Bad. but later had a greater presence in Better Call Saul, the prequel to Breaking Bad.

Cruz is one of the artists invited to the Comic Con Costa Rica, which will begin this Friday with a concert, but whose bulk of activities will take place on Saturday and Sunday at the country’s Convention Center, where the organizers expect the presence of thousands of film, television, comic and anime fans.
