In order to detect any deficiency and correct it in a timely manner before leaving the station, personnel from the Torreón Civil Protection and Fire Department provide permanent maintenance to the work equipment and review the functioning and operation of the machines.
Jorge Luis Juárez Llanas, director of the department, assured that cleaning tasks are carried out daily at the different stations, so that the elements have good conditions in the departure area when dealing with emergencies.
He indicated that preventive maintenance protocols for the machines are followed, such as checking oil levels, cleaning engines, monitoring rescue equipment, chainsaws and smoke extractors, among other actions.
The official said that a general cleaning is done every week, in addition to each day before starting work.
These measures are part of the culture of risk prevention and so that the elements have optimal work and rest spaces for the best development of their work at the service of citizens.
Torreón has seven fire stations to respond to emergencies, central Colón, Mieleras, Sur, Oriente, Norte, Amistad and Universidad.
It is worth mentioning that the firefighters’ facilities are the space where the elements fulfill their guard, train, prepare and rest, since the nature of their work is to go out unexpectedly to respond to emergency reports, which implies physical strength, skill and knowledge.
Last year, rehabilitation actions were also carried out around the stations, as well as constant maintenance in the green areas.
Among the care services most provided by the Torreón Civil Protection and Firefighters, there is fire in vacant lots and houses, assistance in road accidents and care in cases of gas leaks.
