They plan to create 3 green areas

The creation of three lungs or large green areas is planned for the southeast, east and north sectors of the city, as part of the reforestation actions and to contribute to sustainability.

The mayor, Román Alberto Cepeda González, reported that in two cases the necessary land is already available, while for the northern zone, the possibility of having an area that could be one or divided into two parts is being reviewed.

He said that, without underestimating the parks and green areas that are available, those that are planned will far exceed them, in terms of dimensions and characteristics, given the need to generate ecological lungs in the city.

Cepeda González recognized that there continues to be a considerable lag in this matter, which is why they seek to address that part with the generation of new green areas.

The mayor highlighted that during his administration more than 30 thousand trees have been planted, a goal that was set from the beginning, given the importance of strengthening these points to address a sustainability issue.

Other actions aimed at this objective are to stop using drinking water in the irrigation of green areas, through the use of treated water and the hiring of a private company that is responsible for transporting it and carrying out this work.

Currently, between 600,000 and one million liters of treated water are used each day to irrigate some 193 public squares, as well as medians and other tree-lined areas.

The liquid is obtained both from the Bosque Urbano treatment plant and from that provided by some private companies.

In recent days, the Directorate of Municipal Public Services announced that the contract was renewed with the same company in charge of transporting treated water in pipes and irrigating green areas.

We are still waiting to know the volume that construction companies are going to contribute to the Municipality to contribute to this work, in order to maintain the attention of parks, medians and other areas without the need to use water from wells, that is intended for human consumption.

The mayor of Torreón also stated that there is increasing awareness among companies about the importance of providing treated water for its use, and highlighted that the participation of this and all sectors of society is important for the issue of sustainability.
