Ignacio Muñoz pointed out that a person close to the alleged murdered drug trafficker, Clemencio González, known as “Gringo”, could have been the one who betrayed him, handing him over to an adversary in Pedro Juan Caballero. González was murdered yesterday by a group of possible hitmen who fired more than 70 rifle shots at him in a tenement in the capital of the department of Amambay.
The Cryo. Muñoz highlighted that “Gringo” was a notorious figure in the criminal underworld, with multiple enemies seeking his elimination. The alleged drug trafficker maintained a stealthy profile and hid when his life was in danger. However, his hiding place was discovered, suggesting the intervention of a close person who provided information about his whereabouts.
“Those who know him had respect for him, but also fear for what he was. Despite having threats, he chose to stay in that tenancy in a precarious way, very few people got there,” highlighted the uniformed man.
He noted that “he remained closed in his world, he was a dangerous person in the underworld and he was in no hurry to settle the pending accounts with his adversaries because sooner or later he gets his message to them.”
The commissioner also pointed out that González’s murder could be related to the rivalry he had with various criminals in the region and that worsened after the death of his son. “In September of last year, when his son was murdered on a public street, the threats from him and other people involved in the business underworld in Pedro Juan Caballero and part of Amambay began to intensify,” he emphasized. “He had some latent threats that were collected thanks to Intelligence work. “A long time ago, a threat remained latent between him and his opponent,” he added.
