An operation by a human trafficking network for sexual purposes led by the Human Trafficking Brigade (Bitrap) of the Investigative Police (PDI) revealed the participation of two detectives in a cell of the Aragua Train in Santiago.

On the 29th of the same month, the teenager received a call from someone who said he was her father. But in her conversation, according to the publication, she showed “discomfort,” which generated a request to intercept the false relative’s calls.

In this way, it was determined that the cell phone of the false relative belonged to Yariel Ulloa López, of Cuban nationality, whose role in the organization was to recruit adolescents and young people to sexually exploit them in Chile.

The link with the PDI was revealed when Ulloa López’s cell phone was reviewed, since two active PDI officials appeared: Nicolás Ortega Castro and Sebastián Peredo Vera, from the International Airport Police Department and the East Robbery Brigade of the institution. .

In this regard, prosecutor Carolina Suazo, on March 16, charged the detainees with the crimes of illicit association, human trafficking, money laundering, bribery and bribery. The proceedings determined that 13 people made up the organization, some of whom were already in preventive detention, others with current arrest warrants. The persecutor explained that it was the victims who organized the networks of the Tren de Aragua in the PDI: “They stated that within the PDI there were officials who provided information to the Tren de Aragua, that is what they said verbatim and regarding that is that “initiates a series of proceedings linked to that information.”

“At the same time, information is also obtained as a result of a telephone interception that is carried out in another case, in which precisely one of the traffickers communicates with an accused referring to information that is requested from one of the public officials involved, this allows this to be carried out. follow-up and finally establish the participation of these active officials of the Investigative Police (PDI) as members of the criminal association,” he added.

Detectives Nicolás Ortega and Sebastián Peredo were separated from the civil police. The investigations of the Prosecutor’s Office have proven that from October 2021 to March 2024 the former PDI reported to Yariel Ulloa, who in turn responded to Lewis Ponce Ortiz, Venezuelan leader of the cell: his role was to warn police procedures, name the places where the victims went and provide sensitive information from the PDI.
