In commemoration of its 35th anniversary, the Tae Kwon Do Olympic Center held the traditional tae kwon do tournament, “Laguna Open”, which was held in the gymnasium of the Autonomous University of La Laguna (UAL), last Saturday, before hundreds of attendees during a long sports day.
More than 500 participants from the northern region of the country and of course, from the Laguna region, witnessed a great event that gained international relevance a few years ago, since during the Covid-19 pandemic it was held virtually, counted with the participation of athletes from 30 countries, from 5 continents. On this occasion there were taekwondo players from Nuevo León, Durango, Coahuila and Chihuahua; more than 30 academies participated in the motor circuit, poomsae and combat modalities.
Among the foreign academies, TKD Karas, Owijarim and the Continental Academy stood out, while in the Laguna region the most winners were: Tigers, MDK Monterreal and the UAL Halcones. Primary, secondary, high school and professional students participated, directed by Jorge Rocha and César Ruíz; Within the framework of the event, a well-deserved recognition was given to Raúl Morell, a student of the Bachelor of Business Administration, who was selected nationally in 2003.
