Moscow does not see signs of division in the CIS. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin stated in an interview to “RIA Novosti”, answering the question whether Armenia can follow the example of Moldova and think about leaving the Commonwealth.

“Armenia is an important partner of Russia in the CIS and an interested participant in cooperation.” noted the diplomat.

“At a certain stage, Yerevan’s activity on the CIS platform really decreased. However, in general, the results of the year can be considered positive. The Armenian side joined most of the decisions of the summit of the organization on October 13, 2023 in Bishkek. He defended almost all the joint statements of the statutory bodies of the Commonwealth of Nations adopted last year,” he said. “In this regard, we do not see any signs of a “split” in the organization. On the contrary, despite the complex geopolitical situation, cooperation within the CIS continues to develop in all directions,” the diplomat added.
