The United States would want the murderers of Paraguayan prosecutor Marcelo Pecci to be tried in that country, so they would request their extradition, according to a Colombian newspaper specialized in judicial issues, Focus Noticias.

The media affirms that a delegation from the Florida State Attorney’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) of the United States traveled to Colombia to begin a process for extradition purposes against three of those involved in Pecci’s murder. .

Those convicted are Andrés Felipe Pérez Hoyos and his wife Margaret Lizeth Chacón Zúñiga, responsible for financing the attack, and Ramón Emilio Pérez Hoyos, brother of the first mentioned, who would be extradited to the northern country.

The Colombian media indicated that the Americans met with the detainees and that they will begin the procedures for their extradition.

It also publishes that a court in the State of Florida would have initiated a case for the murder of prosecutor Pecci, who was apparently investigating a criminal group that sent drugs to the United States.

Francisco Bernate, lawyer for the Pecci family, said that both he and his clients were unaware that the United States was processing the extradition. “It is welcomed that the North American justice system takes an interest in the case of the fiscal agent who investigated cases of drug trafficking and organized crime,” he highlighted.

“I hope that what has not been possible to do in Colombia or Paraguay, which is to determine who is the intellectual author behind these events, will be achieved by the United States justice system. “It is very good news and we hope that the United States will help us get to the truth of this fact,” Bernate added.
