The United States, the Philippines and Japan say they are ready to strive for a nuclear-weapon-free world in accordance with the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. As reported by TASS agency, this was stated in the joint statement of US President Joe Biden, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. It was distributed by the press service of the White House after the negotiations held in Washington.

“We reaffirm our shared pursuit of a nuclear-weapon-free world, the cornerstone of which is the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, and we call on nuclear-weapon states to support stability and transparency, as well as substantive dialogue on reducing nuclear risks.”

We also call for the immediate start of the long overdue negotiations on the treaty banning the production of fissile material for nuclear weapons,” the statement said.

In addition, the countries declared their commitment to the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and strongly condemned the DPRK’s escalating threats and unprecedented range of ballistic missiles, which pose a serious threat to peace and security.
