The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the interception of two anti-ship cruise missiles in the Red Sea. This was reported by the command’s message.

“On March 4, at 20:00 (Sana’a time), CENTCOM forces conducted self-defense strikes against two anti-ship cruise missiles that posed a direct threat to commercial vessels and US Navy vessels in the region,” he wrote. US Central Command on the X social platform.

The Central Command also reported that between 15:50 and 16:15 Sana’a time, the Ansar Allah movement (Houthis), the ruling movement in northern Yemen, fired two anti-ship cruise missiles at a Liberian-flagged container ship. One of the missiles hit the ship, causing damage, but no one was injured. The container ship did not request assistance and continued on its way.

During the war between Israel and the Palestinian radical movement Hamas, the Houthis began attacking ships passing through the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, saying they would stop the attacks only after Israel stopped military operations in the Gaza Strip.

During this period, the forces of the USA and Great Britain stationed in the region carried out a number of attacks on the facilities of the Houthis in Yemen.
