The thorn of parallel exports and prohibitions

The system of parallel exports, leads to the country being left without sufficient quantities of drugs, as wholesalers sell them to other countries at much higher prices. To address this issue, the EOF periodically imposes bans on the export of specific preparations. Today, a ban is in force for 119 preparations. However, the number of preparations banned from export was much higher (277) just a few months ago. In January came the export ban for 158 preparations. “With the lifting of the ban, the commercial policy of the wholesalers has also changed, as they are again gathering preparations to export them”, comments the general secretary of the Panhellenic Pharmaceutical Association.
