While Yeni Malatyaspor, which had one of the worst seasons in its history with -40 points, the developments that emerged after the betting investigation further deepened the morale in the community, the perfect ground of Malatya Stadium attracted attention as the only positive element of the recent period. Sharing information about the ground of Malatya Stadium, which is heated from below, Turf Technician Muhammet Emin Ak, who works under the Malatya Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports, said that the visiting team coaches stated that the ground deserves matches above the standards.
‘A METICULOUS STUDY IS BEING CONDUCTED
Talking about the maintenance preparations of the ground before the matches, Ak said, “We have maintenance work on the ground as a result of the blows and wounds we received from the matches. There is spraying and fertilization. Of course, all of this depends on the order and order. We do not use the fertilizer and pesticide we want whenever we want. According to the wishes of the field. For example, color mismatch occurs, we use appropriate fertilizers on the field. We have millimetric drawings before the match. In other words, drawings that do not accept any mistakes. We pay great attention to them. We work with the pride that our profession gives us.” spoke.
‘WE KEEP IT CONSTANT TO 22 DEGREES’
Stating that grass maintenance in winter requires more effort, Muhammet Emin Ak said, “In all stadiums across Turkey, it requires a little more effort than in summer. Currently, our field has an underfloor heating system and it is working. It is not important for us outside right now. The weather conditions may be -4, -15, but what is important for us right now is the soil temperature, the ground temperature. In other words, there is a temperature that the plant roots under the ground can receive homogeneously, which is 22 degrees. We measure this every day for the development of the grass and reduce it to 22 degrees. “We keep it constant, so the soil temperature where the grass develops the most is 22 degrees,” he said.
GRASS IS FEEDED BY ARTIFICIAL SUNLIGHT
Stating that they use an artificial sunlight system called “sunlight” in winter, Ak said, “The bulbs of this system work with gas taken from the sun. Generally, in the stadiums in Türkiye, the south side does not receive sunlight. This system gives artificial sunlight to the south side, which does not receive sun from the top. The grass in this region grows stronger. The grass in the other region can feed itself due to the sun, even in winter.”
‘I AM VERY CONFIDENT IN MY OWN GROUND’
Stating that Malatya is one of the rare cities that allows two teams to play on its field, Ak said, “Currently, there are very rare cities in Turkey that allow two teams to play on their field. Like Adanaspor, we also field two teams. Under normal circumstances, in the stadiums where one team plays, there is a gap of 14 days until the next match. They do all the repair work at that time. Since there are two matches, we need to work more intensively. We need to use these systems more carefully and in a more positive way. We do this by adding our days and nights to our weekends. We need to be on this ground all the time. Our success depends entirely on this. If we are reduced to a single team after next week, our workload will be much lighter. Maybe we will be more successful, maybe we will make more efforts to improve our ground. This will be our reward. I am very confident in our own ground. If the ground is like this, we will be able to play the biggest matches. “I believe on behalf of my team and myself,” he said.
