Javier Teira He is VOX attorney for Salamanca. On March 14, he was in charge of arguing VOX’s rejection of the motion presented by the PSOE in the Cortes of Castilla y León that requested the disapproval of Santiago Abascal and of Juan García-Gallardo.
He has a Doctor of Philosophy, a degree in Philosophy and a degree in Law from the University of Salamanca, a Master in Human Rights from the same University and a Master in Legal Practice from the Higher Institute of Law and Economics-ISDE of Madrid. His professional work has always been linked to teaching and he is currently on leave from his position as a secondary school teacher specializing in Philosophy. He is also a professor of Oratory, a discipline on which he has taught courses at several universities and public and private institutions such as USAL or UNIR.
-Why did you make the jump to VOX??
There is a main reason and it is not ideological, that is why I have no doubt that VOX is today the best voting option for any Spaniard, the only guaranteed patriotic option. VOX is the only party, the only one, that unconditionally defends national sovereignty, that is, the freedoms and fundamental rights of all Spaniards, the only one that is not willing to negotiate even a millimeter of that which only belongs to the Spaniards. . We only have to see, for example, how the PP negotiates with the PSOE, under international supervision, neither more nor less than the configuration of the Judiciary. Secondly, because VOX is the only party that understands that socialism and separatism are incompatible with freedoms and the rule of law in Spain. And because it is the only party that defends life from conception to its natural end, freedom and property as an immovable foundation of the social and political order, and an inalienable condition for the common good of society.
-His intervention in Las Cortes has gone viral on the internet…
They will tell the reasons that I present, which I understand are clear and clear, as well as the indignation produced by the unspeakable injustice of accusing Abascal, Garcia-Gallardo and VOX to attack the University of Salamanca just for denouncing the danger of ideology woke and protest because a terrorist like Petro received honors in the same classrooms in which Francisco de Vitoria taught his lessons. An injustice to which, as has been seen, the PP has not resisted the temptation to join.
-In your speech there is a clear criticism of the situation in which the Spanish university finds itself and its drift since the 80s… how is this fixed?
My experience tells me that when you have a tradition as rich as ours and, above all, with human capital like that of the Spanish university, three ingredients are enough to achieve success: freedom, transparency and legal security in all processes. If we add to this a financial commitment, impossible today due to the deeply unfair nature of the regional financing system on which the university depends, our universities and, of course, that of Salamanca, would be at the top of all the rankings.
-He is a spokesperson for the Education Commission… is secondary education fixed?
Secondary education, of course, can be fixed. What it is about is applying measures aimed at quality, national and free education. From a didactic point of view, for example, It is urgent to recover the central role of content in curriculum programming, turning the page of the discourse of competitions. In relation to the national dimension, we must reinforce Spanish history, culture and language, which, in addition to their intrinsic intellectual value, are what unites us and what, ultimately, can make us stronger and freer. And thirdly, just as in university education, freedom is the fundamental thingso it is essential to suppress all indoctrinating content and practices that threaten freedom of education.
–He is also on the Agriculture Commission. What measures must be undertaken for the Spanish primary sector to survive?
The primary sector faces two types of problems. First, those specific to the sector, such as the prices of energy and raw materials, dependent on the fluctuations of international markets, or pests, diseases and climatic adversities, all of which are inseparable and innate to agriculture and livestock. . And there is a second type of problems that I call artificial, they are those derived from climate fanaticism and the globalism of the 2030 Agenda.
From my point of view, the first package of measures is the simplest, it is enough to repeal all European green regulations, as well as all the measures derived from the 2030 Agenda. All of this goes against common sense, experience and science, but also against food sovereignty, against the right to freedom of enterprise and trade and even against the right to property. And just a few examples, the Nature Restoration Law, for example, is first of all a covert expropriation of the affected farms, in which any productive intervention will be prohibited. Once ecological and globalist fanaticism has been neutralized, the most important measures are, first, those that have to do with irrigation and water management, that is, we need a national hydrological plan. Second, protection measures against unfair competition from third countries. Third, the measures that have to do with the digitalization of the sector. And fourth, the measures to promote the development of the localized agri-food industry so that the added value of the product acts as a tractor for the primary sector on the ground. All of them areas, by the way, in which our Department of Agriculture is being used thoroughly and successfully.
His speech makes clear the way the left acts, manipulating statements and imposing its vision. How do you deal with this ideological imposition?
I’m going to get pious here. Those who know me already know of my love for quoting religious authors and sacred texts. I never understand why this is surprising, because for me in this context they are intellectual references like those of any other text and author. But getting to the point, the apostle Peter commands us to always be ready to give a reason for our hope, and Saint Augustine, in his Confessions, says that in regard to non-believers we should not stick to the Holy Scriptures alone. By this I mean that, with the same tenacity with which we defend our principles, we must not spare any effort, first, in delving into them, and then in explaining them at all times and in any place. I am referring to the invocation of reason and truth, something fundamental in our tradition that is at the basis of the strength of the unity of the three pillars of the West: Christianity, Greek philosophy and Roman law. The truth is the axis on which everything pivots. Therefore, against manipulation, I understand that there is no other recipe than the conviction that springs from hope, truth and the effort of reason. On the other hand, we must not be naive, we must also practice evangelical cunning, consciously reinforced with the weapons of rhetoric.
Salamanca, the constituency for which you were elected, is an eminently university city. What should be offered to the students who leave those classrooms every year and must look for work?
First of all, the university is the place of knowledge and science. In his Seven Games, Alfonso Therefore, I believe that what the university should offer is knowledge and science. Knowledge and science at the height of our time that enables students to understand the world, the entire world, the universe, hence the name “university.” Which is perfectly compatible with providing training that enables students to be in a position to respond effectively to the professional needs that society will demand of them when they leave. Therefore, going further, the university must be completely synchronized with the labor market and the business environment from which it feeds and whose needs it must respond to. On the other hand, we are tired of hearing that the university has a function of social transformation, of contributing to society, to freedom and to the common good. Exactly, but for that what is needed is freedom, transparency and legal certainty. Knowledge does not need ideological complements to be liberating. The classics knew this very well, which is why they called liberal arts not only grammar, rhetoric and logic, that is, the humanities, but also music, arithmetic, astronomy and geometry, that is , to the sciences. Without further ado, without ideological additions.
To what extent are high school and university students, in your experience, victims of educational models that have been lowering the quality of teaching at the same speed as the levels of demand?
Twenty years ago, professional associations, for engineers, for example, already said that the preparation of graduates upon leaving university had been greatly devalued. The progressive leveling desire, which does not understand that there are differences between the intellectual performance of people, has been weakening for decades now, since the LOGSE, and there are those who affirm that even before, the weight of the contents of educational programs and the evaluation mechanisms. Any teacher you ask knows that today’s students, with the exceptions that prove the rule, at any high school or university level, and in any subject, would not pass the exams that were given twenty years ago.
-What would you like to have achieved at the end of your time in politics?
The first thing to say is that the situation in Spain today is not normal, as it may be, for example, in Portugal or France, to name the two neighboring countries. The thing had been going on for a long time, since at least 1985, when the independence of the judiciary was liquidated, but it was with 11-M that the impotence of the State in Spain to defend the nation, to defend the rights and freedoms of the Spanish. My political commitment dates back to those dates, at that time with the black laborers and support for victims of terrorism, later with the DENAES Foundation and now at VOX. The authors of the Madrid massacre went unpunished and the governments that have existed since then have not even remotely undertaken the restoration of our sovereignty and our dignity as citizens and as a nation, things reaching the inconceivable extreme in the Sánchez era that The Government of the nation repeals the rule of law to grant impunity to all types of crimes committed by politicians; from sedition to embezzlement, without even stopping at terrorist crimes. In this circumstance, participating in politics is not just another possibility among others, as could happen in Portugal or France, it is almost a necessity for survival, but above all it is an inexcusable moral duty towards past and future generations. In this circumstance, my inalienable objective in politics is to recover sovereignty and freedom in Spain, and until this is achieved I will continue to be active, whether or not I hold an elected position as is the case now.
-Will you ever return to the classroom?
As I just said, as long as the circumstances in Spain do not change, I will continue in politics whether I hold an elected position or not. If the citizens decide that I leave active politics, I will return to the classrooms, I am a civil servant and my position is waiting for me. Otherwise, I have not left the classroom practically since I can remember, learning is for me the most satisfying thing in life, and teaching is without a doubt the most perfect way to learn. However, I insist, as long as Spain is in this situation and God gives me health, my political commitment will continue.
