The profiles of Athens tourists

To seven major tourist markets, including two “emerging” ones, Athens owes the new historical visitor record it recorded in 2023, breaking for the first time the “barrier” of 7 million international arrivals, against 6.4 million. in 2019 (+10%). The largest number of visitors to the capital last year came from the traditional markets of the USA (18%), the UK (10%), Germany (6%), France (7%) and Italy (6%), while an important role was also played by the markets of Australia and China, which recovered rapidly from the pandemic, boosting the arrivals of Athens.
